The Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) is probing a South Rift MP for alleged forgery of an academic certificate.
According to an EACC letter dated July 31, 2024, addressed to the Vice Chancellor of Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT), the investigation concerns claims of document forgery.
The EACC has requested that the university provide details on whether the MP enrolled in and graduated with a Diploma in Community Development. They also seek the documents the MP used to enroll in the course.
EACC Spokesperson Eric Ngumbi confirmed the investigation, stating, “Yes, the Commission has initiated an inquiry into this matter based on an intelligence report received in July 2024.”
Ngumbi added that the investigation will determine the validity of the allegations and that legal action will follow if the academic papers are found to be forged.
