Senate Speaker Amason Kingi has announced the passing of his father, Mzee Kingi Mwaruwa.
In an emotional statement, Kingi reflected on their journey together, acknowledging the challenges his father endured to shape him into the person he is today. “Dad, our Patriarch Mzee Kingi Mwaruwa has rested. I’m completely broken, especially when I recall the painful struggles you went through to make me who I am,” he said.
Kingi described his father’s life as one filled with hardship, particularly due to recurring illnesses. However, he fondly recalled a special moment during the December 2024 holidays when they shared a dance for the first time. “Since adulthood, I don’t remember ever dancing with you, Dad. But on December 24, 2024, at Mjanaheri village, we danced together until sunset, celebrating not just Christmas but your remarkable recovery. I never knew it would be our first and last dance,” he shared.
Expressing gratitude, Kingi credited his father for instilling in him resilience and determination. “The greatest lesson you taught me was never to give up, no matter what. That lesson has carried me this far. You were truly a gift from God, and I couldn’t have asked for a better father,” he said.
He concluded his tribute with a heartfelt farewell: “Dad, may the Angels open the Gates of Heaven and welcome another Angel with a dance, just like we did at Mjanaheri. Until we meet again.”
