President William Ruto has put forward as his nominee for the position of Attorney General.
Oduor, who currently serves as the Deputy Director of Public Prosecutions, is proposed for this role following President Ruto’s recent reshuffle, which saw Rebecca Miano reassigned to the Ministry of Tourism. Miano had initially been selected as Attorney General after Ruto disbanded his entire Cabinet.
Should Oduor pass the vetting process, she will succeed Justin Muturi, who has been nominated for the role of Public Service Cabinet Secretary.
An advocate of the High Court of Kenya, Oduor holds a Master of Arts in International Conflict Management and a Bachelor of Laws (LL.B) from the University of Nairobi, as well as a Diploma in Law from the Kenya School of Law.
Upon confirmation by the National Assembly Committee on Appointments and subsequent appointment by the President, Oduor will assume the role of the principal legal advisor to the Government. Her responsibilities will include representing the national government in legal proceedings, excluding criminal cases, and executing additional duties as assigned by Parliament or the President.
Oduor will join President Ruto’s newly reconstituted Cabinet, which includes at least four members from the opposition party, ODM, and will also serve on the influential National Security Council.
