President William Ruto has been actively engaging in diplomatic meetings in Addis Ababa ahead of the African Union Commission (AUC) chairperson election. Since his arrival on Thursday, he has met with Barbados Prime Minister Mia Amor Mottley to discuss Kenya’s peacekeeping mission in Haiti and the broader Africa-Caribbean collaboration.
Ruto also held discussions with outgoing AUC chairperson Moussa Faki, emphasizing the need for continued institutional reforms to strengthen the African Union’s role in political, economic, and security matters. The summit will see the election of a new AUC chairperson, with Kenya’s Raila Odinga among the key contenders.
