President William Ruto has dismissed criticism over his recent tour of the Mt Kenya region, saying it was focused on inspecting development projects, not politics. Speaking in Chuka, Tharaka Nithi County, Ruto urged critics to mind their own business and let him work, noting that some complain whether he stays in office or travels for official duties.
During the visit, he handed over 60 police housing units, reviewed progress on key market projects worth over Sh170 million, and launched the Tharaka University Tuition Complex. In Embu County, he flagged off a Sh789 million water project that will benefit 88,000 residents.
Deputy President Kindiki Kithure, who accompanied him, promised to ensure all presidential directives from the tour are fully implemented. Local leaders, including Governor Muthomi Njuki and MP Patrick Munene, praised Ruto for the region’s development and dismissed claims that people were paid to attend his events.
