George Odiwuor, Raila Odinga’s loyal personal aide for over three decades, has died while receiving treatment in a Nairobi hospital. Known for his calm and composed demeanor, Odiwuor began his career in VIP protection under Jaramogi Oginga Odinga before transitioning to serve Raila in 1994.
Described as a quiet yet powerful figure in Raila’s inner circle, Odiwuor was considered indispensable—often the go-to person for access to the ODM leader. His unwavering presence through Kenya’s turbulent political seasons earned him deep respect from Raila and allies.
Raila paid tribute to him as a dependable and professional aide who served the Jaramogi family since the 1980s. ODM Secretary General Edwin Sifuna and others also praised Odiwuor for his humility, guidance, and behind-the-scenes influence, even enduring state intimidation during opposition struggles.
