President William Ruto has reaffirmed his administration’s dedication to driving comprehensive development and fostering innovation in Machakos, Kitui, and Makueni counties.
During a series of discussions with local leaders, Ruto emphasized several key government initiatives aimed at transforming the region’s infrastructure and socio-economic landscape.
“I have had productive discussions with leaders from Machakos, Kitui, and Makueni counties regarding ongoing government projects in their region,” Ruto stated via X on Friday.
A central theme of the discussions was the ambitious housing program designed to address the region’s pressing housing needs.
“We explored the housing program, the expansion of electricity access through the Last Mile Connectivity project, and the establishment of digital hubs in every ward across the country,” he noted.
On Wednesday, Ruto reiterated his administration’s commitment to accelerating electricity access, recognizing it as vital for enhancing livelihoods and driving economic growth in the region. This was articulated during the commissioning of the Kimuka Power Substation in Kajiado County.
“Last mile electricity connectivity at the grassroots is one of our government’s priorities to stimulate business activity nationwide,” Ruto asserted.
The new substation is expected to benefit over 600,000 residents, including those in areas such as Karen, Dagoretti, Kikuyu, Kabete, Ngong, Matasia, Magadi, and Ngemwa.
