President William Ruto has reaffirmed his administration’s dedication to fostering comprehensive development and innovation in Machakos, Kitui, and Makueni counties.
In discussions with local leaders, Ruto emphasized several key government initiatives aimed at transforming the region’s infrastructure and socio-economic landscape.
“I have engaged in productive conversations with leaders from Machakos, Kitui, and Makueni regarding the ongoing government projects in their areas,” Ruto stated on X on Friday.
A central topic was the ambitious housing program aimed at addressing local housing needs.
“We talked about the housing initiative, the Last Mile Connectivity project to improve electricity access, and the establishment of digital hubs in every ward across the country,” he noted.
During a recent event at the commissioning of the Kimuka Power Substation in Kajiado County, Ruto reiterated the government’s commitment to accelerating electricity access, which he described as crucial for enhancing livelihoods and driving economic growth.
“The last mile electricity connectivity is a top priority for our government to promote business activities nationwide,” Ruto said, adding that the new substation will benefit over 600,000 residents in areas including Karen, Dagoretti, Kikuyu, Kabete, Ngong, Matasia, Magadi, and Ngemwa.
