Detectives are probing the brutal killing of a dairy farm employee in Mukurweini, Nyeri, and a separate drowning case in Homabay County.
In the Mukurweini incident, Simon Muchiri, 45, was hacked to death at his Ikuma village home around 2 a.m. Sunday. Police reported that Muchiri, who had alerted his wife that he was being trailed by three armed men, was fatally struck on the head with a metal bar after arriving home.
The attackers, demanding a share of a Sh700,000 business deal, also stabbed Muchiri’s wife in the arm and struck her forehead. She survived but sustained serious injuries. The assailants fled without stealing anything, and police are investigating potential motives, including the alleged deal.
The body of the deceased was taken to Mukurwe-Ini Sub-County Mortuary, and detectives are pursuing leads while examining his home and workplace.
In a separate incident, a fisherman drowned in Lake Victoria on Sunday night in Kananga Dhuru, Homabay County. William Juma, 56, ventured out alone to fish at Dhuru Beach. His canoe was later found floating, and his body was discovered nearby.
Juma’s body was moved to the Homabay County Teaching and Referral Hospital morgue for an autopsy as investigations continue.
