Two ODM MPs from Nyanza are urging President William Ruto and Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua to resolve their differences and prioritize the nation’s economic growth.
Suba South MP Caroli Omondi and Gem MP Elisha Odhiambo expressed concerns that the ongoing conflicts between Ruto and Gachagua could further divide the country. Omondi emphasized the need for peace and political stability to achieve full economic recovery, highlighting that this can only be attained through harmonious leadership.
“Many Kenyans seek a supportive environment for business and development. The country cannot prosper if its leaders are embroiled in constant disputes,” Omondi stated.
Speaking at a gospel music competition at Homa Bay Central SDA Church in Homa Bay Town, the MPs called for stability and urged Gachagua to refrain from making damaging remarks. “This fallout needs urgent attention. They must find a solution that benefits the majority of Kenyans,” he added.
Odhiambo challenged Gachagua to avoid statements that could undermine Ruto’s reputation and presidential duties. He accused Gachagua and his allies of routinely criticizing the President during public events.
“I urge DP Gachagua to rein in his supporters from attacking the President if they genuinely advocate for peace. He must manage his allies,” Odhiambo asserted.
Some MPs allied with Gachagua have been criticized for making inflammatory comments that could polarize communities. Interior PS Raymond Omollo also called for peace, urging Kenyans to reject leaders who threaten stability.
“We need peace to create a conducive environment for development in our country,” Omollo stated.
