Police in Narok town have apprehended three individuals in connection with the murder of a 38-year-old man whose body was discovered along the Muslim graveyard road last week.
Narok County Police Commander Riko Ngare confirmed that the suspects are currently being held at the Narok Police Station to aid in the investigation.
The recent murder has sparked concern among Narok residents, who have expressed alarm over rising insecurity in the area, with frequent reports of violent incidents.
Following the arrests, locals are hopeful that authorities will address ongoing criminal activities in the town. Booster Kisio, a youth leader, urged police to increase patrols, noting that young people are often the primary targets of such crimes.
In a separate incident, police in the Sekenani area of Narok West Subcounty have initiated a manhunt for a suspect believed to have killed his girlfriend the previous night. The body of the 31-year-old woman was found in a nearby bush by a young boy who had gone outside.
The boy alerted construction workers nearby, who recognized the victim as the girlfriend of one of their colleagues. The body of Chepkirui was discovered with a deep neck wound and has been taken to the Narok County Referral Hospital morgue for preservation pending an autopsy.
Additionally, at the Mulot police station in Narok County, a man has turned himself in, confessing to murdering his wife over suspicions of infidelity. Police found the body of Naropil Moijoi, 30, dumped in a bush near the suspect’s home, also with a deep cut on the neck. Officers recovered a blood-stained machete nearby, believed to be the murder weapon. The body has been sent to Longisa morgue in Bomet County awaiting an autopsy.
