Pastor Nick Korir of Nairobi Chapel, alongside a team of speed bikers, is on a five-month ride across Africa to raise Sh50 million for an education endowment fund. Their journey, which began in December 2024, has taken them through Ethiopia, Djibouti, and the Horn of Africa, with the second leg currently underway.
On day seven, the team took a break at Nkhata Bay, Malawi, spending the day swimming in Lake Malawi, relaxing by the shore, and catching up on laundry. The following day, they set off for Lilongwe, but the journey was challenging. Thick fog and cold temperatures forced them to stop and layer up, and a diversion on the M1 Highway led them into slippery mud, making it difficult to keep their bikes upright. To add to their struggle, speeding drivers splashed muddy water on them, leaving them drenched. Despite the hardships, they were warmly welcomed in Lilongwe, where they dined with the Kenyan community at APEX Hotel.
On day nine, the team joined the Malawi Bikers for the Ubuntu Ride, an annual event uniting bikers across Africa. However, they had to cut their participation short to cross into Zambia the same day. Heavy rain soaked them as they rode back to their guesthouse to pack for the journey. At the Mchinji Border, they encountered an efficient and modern crossing but still faced a four-hour delay due to Interpol clearance requirements.
Supporters can contribute to their cause by donating via Paybill 8060305 to help fund their mission as they continue riding across Africa for the LOGOS Endowment Fund.
