Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi has dismissed calls circulating on social media platforms for alternative governance, labeling them as idle talk. He emphasized that Kenya is governed by a constitutional order and stressed the importance of adhering to the rule of law at all times.
Mudavadi urged Kenyans to rally behind President William Ruto’s call for national unity, citing lessons from neighboring countries like Sudan where breakdowns in governance have led to humanitarian crises.
“When individuals suggest military intervention, it raises questions about their understanding of democracy and the constitutional power of Kenyans to democratically elect their leaders every five years,” Mudavadi remarked.
Reflecting on Kenya’s recent challenges, including protests following the collapse of the Finance Bill, Mudavadi called for patience and support for President Ruto in steering the country back to normalcy. He cautioned against actions that could lead to constitutional disorder or lawlessness, urging adherence to democratic processes to achieve stability and prosperity.
Emphasizing patriotism as crucial for Kenya’s future, Mudavadi highlighted the importance of unity in overcoming ethnic and political divisions. He advocated for constructive dialogue to resolve differences, underscoring the need for collective efforts to achieve economic transformation, job creation, industrial expansion, and development.
Speaking during a visit to Kwale county alongside President Ruto as part of a coastal development tour, Mudavadi and other leaders inaugurated various projects aimed at transforming the region. They launched initiatives including the Jitume Digital Hub, Matuga Technical and Vocational College, and the Matuga affordable housing project. They also inspected the Kwale county aggregation and industrial park, Diani modern market, and Kinondo Farmers Cooperative Society at Kinondo Ginnery.
“These initiatives are geared towards harnessing the potential of Kwale and the coastal region,” Mudavadi affirmed, urging local communities to leverage these projects for economic advancement, particularly in bolstering the tourism sector.
The leaders are scheduled to attend an interdenominational prayer service in Mwatate, Taita Taveta county on Sunday.
