Parliamentarians will interrupt their two-month recess today to deliberate on reports concerning President William Ruto’s nominees.
The agenda includes reviewing committee reports on three Cabinet Secretary appointees: Mutahi Kagwe (Agriculture), William Kabogo (ICT), and Lee Kinyanjui (Trade), all perceived allies of former President Uhuru Kenyatta.
The Committee on Appointments, led by Speaker Moses Wetang’ula, finalized its report on Wednesday, reportedly recommending the approval of the three nominees. If endorsed, their names will proceed to the President for formal appointment and swearing-in.
Lawmakers will also evaluate reports on Public Service Commission nominees and ambassadorial candidates, including Ababu Namwamba (UN Office, Nairobi) and Andrew Karanja (Brazil).
Former ICT CS Margaret Nyambura, nominated as ambassador to Ghana, declined the position, citing personal reasons.
