Tension gripped Msalaba Village, Kakamega County, after a mob set fire to an assistant chief’s home, accusing him of involvement in the lynching of two alleged livestock thieves.
The victims, suspected of stealing animals, were attacked by a mob and later died in the hospital. Villagers, claiming they were legitimate traders, stormed the hospital, retrieved the bodies, and torched the administrator’s home.
Security forces are investigating both incidents while urging locals to avoid mob justice. Authorities warn of rising lynching cases, calling for stricter enforcement to restore order.
