Martha Karua, leader of Narc Kenya, has firmly stated that she would never accept a role in President William Ruto’s administration. In response to a question about whether she would have considered a nomination from Ruto, Karua unequivocally affirmed her stance, emphasizing that she is not open to working with him and has made her position clear.
Karua further clarified that she has not received any job offer from Ruto’s government. Reflecting on her past experiences, she noted that while she has worked with both Ruto and Raila Odinga in Parliament, she finds Odinga to be more approachable and collaborative.
“Of course I wouldn’t work for William Ruto. Despite any changes or improvements he might make, he remains in charge of everything and is unlikely to allow anyone else to have a meaningful role,” Karua explained. “From my experience working with these individuals in Parliament, Raila is much easier to work with. Even when disagreements arise, there is always room to discuss and resolve them. I would not accept a position under William Ruto, and they are aware of my position,” she told Citizen TV.
During the interview, Karua criticized Ruto’s recent Cabinet reshuffle, describing it as a mere diversion. She argued that the changes are superficial and that the vetting process for the new Cabinet Secretary nominees has become a spectacle.
Karua accused the Ruto administration of being unresponsive to the needs and demands of Kenyans. “The Cabinet nominations are just a distraction. Ruto received the message that the people want a fresh start, yet he proceeds with Cabinet appointments and the vetting process becomes a circus,” she asserted. “This administration is failing to address the genuine concerns of Kenyans, as highlighted by the Gen Z generation.”
Karua has consistently maintained a firm stance against joining the Kenya Kwanza government.
