Detectives are investigating the shooting death of a man by unidentified gunmen in the Kist area of Kiambu Township. Witnesses reported that the incident occurred on Thursday, August 1, along Kist-Degro Road. The motive for the attack remains unclear.
Upon arrival at the scene, police discovered the body of an unidentified man, approximately 27 years old, beside a motorcycle. The victim had sustained a gunshot wound to the chest. Nearby, officers recovered two spent 9mm cartridges and a live bullet approximately 100 meters from the body. Security guards in the vicinity claimed that the rider had been followed by two individuals on motorcycles, who fled immediately after the shooting.
The body has been transported to the City Mortuary for a postmortem and identification. Authorities have described the incident as an execution.
In a separate case, police are probing the death of a man found in the City Stadium area of Nairobi. The victim, who was without identification documents, showed no visible injuries or signs of struggle. The body has been moved to the mortuary for identification and an autopsy.
Additionally, in Kaimosi, Nandi County, a police officer is recovering from a head wound sustained after being struck by a man he was trying to stop from exhuming a body. On Wednesday afternoon, two officers were dispatched to Kiborgok village to prevent the exhumation of Darling Rukabite’s body. When they arrived, they found the suspect in the act of exhuming the body. Upon being instructed to cease, the suspect threw two stones at the officers, injuring one in the head.
Enraged locals attacked the suspect with stones and twigs before police intervened. Both the suspect and the injured officer were treated and discharged at Kapkangani Health Centre. The suspect is expected to appear in court on Friday. Police have linked the exhumation attempt to a land dispute and have called for local officials to address the matter amicably.
