Mama Lucy Kibaki Hospital has proudly announced that it has recorded zero maternal deaths over the past four months. CEO Wafula attributed this significant achievement to the modernization of the facility’s equipment during Governor Johnson Sakaja’s tenure.
“We have improved the care we provide to mothers thanks to the modern equipment available at our facility,” Wafula stated in a press briefing on Monday.
He highlighted that all expectant mothers due for delivery are now registered directly in the ward, significantly reducing the time spent outside for registration. “Previously, many women would give birth while still in the registration process. To address this, we have implemented a new registration system under Governor Sakaja’s guidance,” he explained.
Furthermore, the hospital board has established a committee dedicated to quality assurance in service delivery, focusing on patient-related issues. Health CEC Suzanne Silantoi noted that the hospital has also retrained its medical staff over the past six months to enhance customer care.
Silantoi added that the hospital is well-equipped, with all malfunctioning machines having been repaired. Following his appointment, Governor Sakaja restructured the management of the city’s Level 5 hospitals, which included updating board membership and creating a CEO position above the medical superintendent, with the superintendent now serving as the CEO’s deputy.
