Kakamega Senator Boni Khalwale has expressed enthusiasm over the nomination of Dorcas Oduor for Attorney General.
Khalwale highlighted that Oduor has long been deserving of this role, having previously missed out on the position of Director of Public Prosecutions since 2013. Currently, Oduor serves as the Principal Deputy Director of Public Prosecutions.
“She truly deserves the opportunity to advise the government,” Khalwale commented on X.
This nomination follows President William Ruto’s recent reshuffle, which included moving Rebecca Miano to the Ministry of Tourism. Miano had been designated Attorney General following Ruto’s dissolution of his entire Cabinet.
If confirmed, Oduor will succeed Justin Muturi, who has been nominated as Public Service Cabinet Secretary.
Oduor, an advocate of the High Court of Kenya, holds a Master of Arts in International Conflict Management and a Bachelor of Laws (LL.B) from the University of Nairobi, as well as a Diploma in Law from the Kenya School of Law.
Upon her appointment by the President, Oduor will serve as the principal legal advisor to the Government, representing it in legal proceedings, excluding criminal cases, and undertaking additional duties assigned by Parliament or the President.
She will join President Ruto’s newly restructured Cabinet, which now includes at least four members from the opposition party, ODM.
