An autopsy on Amos Langat, who was fatally shot in an altercation with a police officer in Nairobi’s Kawangware area, revealed he sustained seven bullet wounds—four in the stomach and three in the chest. The incident, involving a pistol, occurred after a dispute over a pool game between Langat and Corporal Mohamed Yusuf Keinan, a police officer attached to State House Spokesman Hussein Mohamed.
Keinan, currently under police guard in the hospital, is expected to provide a statement as investigations progress. The Independent Policing Oversight Authority (IPOA) is overseeing the probe, while Langat’s family is preparing to transport his body to Bureti, Kericho County.
This incident adds to a series of fatal shootings involving police officers assigned as VIP bodyguards. In the past month alone, three people—including two police officers—have died in similar cases, raising concerns about the conduct of officers attached to high-profile individuals.
