Police are investigating the electrocution of a 15-year-old student in Ruiru. The incident reportedly occurred when a neighbor used an electric power supply to pump water for irrigation from the Mukuyu River to his property.
According to police, the neighbor had connected the power supply to the boy’s house for the irrigation process. After making the connection, he went to feed his goats but heard a scream from the riverside and immediately turned off the power.
The boy was found lying on his back with his legs in the river, next to the water pump, having been electrocuted. Police rushed him to Ruiru Subcounty Hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
Both police officers and Kenya Power and Lighting Company (KPLC) personnel visited the scene to document the incident. The boy’s body has been transferred to Kenyatta University Teaching, Referral, and Research Hospital.
