India has announced sweeping measures against Pakistan following a deadly gun attack in Pahalgam, Indian-administered Kashmir, which left 26 people dead. Actions include closing the main border crossing, expelling diplomats, suspending the long-standing Indus Water Treaty, and ordering some Pakistani visa holders to leave within 48 hours.
Indian officials blame Pakistan-based groups for the assault, though Pakistan denies involvement. Prime Minister Narendra Modi vowed justice, while Defence Minister Rajnath Singh warned of action against both perpetrators and their supporters.
The attack, one of the deadliest in years, targeted tourists and has further strained India-Pakistan ties. Pakistan’s National Security Council is set to meet to formulate a response.
