Pressure is mounting on President William Ruto’s administration to address the rising cases of abductions targeting government critics. National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetang’ula and Public Service Cabinet Secretary Justin Muturi have called on security agencies to investigate and expose those behind the disappearances and killings.
Speaking in Kakamega, Wetang’ula urged the police to take responsibility and stop the forced disappearances, which he warned are tarnishing Kenya’s image. In Nairobi, CS Muturi called for a suspension of government activities to prioritize the crisis, emphasizing that economic progress is meaningless if young Kenyans are being abducted and killed.
Muturi demanded a commission of inquiry involving religious leaders, civil rights groups, and legal experts to examine the extrajudicial killings. He urged President Ruto to intervene and end the abductions, stressing that Kenya cannot normalize such injustices.
