Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua’s impeachment trial is set to begin in the Senate on Wednesday after the National Assembly voted in favor of Kibwezi West MP Mwenge Mutuse’s motion to impeach him. Gachagua, who faces 11 charges, denies any misconduct. The motion saw overwhelming support with 281 MPs voting for impeachment, while 44 opposed it. The Senate, consisting of 67 members, will hear the case and is expected to vote on Thursday evening.
