Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has shared insights into his life following his impeachment in October 2024. During an interview on Inooro TV, Gachagua expressed gratitude for the peace he has found since leaving office and the opportunity to reconnect with loved ones.
“I have so much peace and thank God for life and good health. I now have time to reflect on where we have come from and where we are headed,” he said.
Gachagua noted that his transition has allowed him to engage with friends and family, something his role as deputy president often prevented. “I now have time to talk to friends, visit people, and connect with relatives I grew up with,” he added.
He highlighted the joy of bonding with his immediate family, especially his wife and children, saying, “I am content and have no problem with anyone.”
Despite some expectations that he would retreat into isolation, Gachagua emphasized his resilience. “People thought I would stay indoors and stop talking to anyone. I’m a survivor, someone who dies and resurrects,” he said.
Gachagua made history as Kenya’s first impeached deputy president, with the National Assembly initiating the process on October 8, followed by Senate approval on October 17. He is currently challenging the impeachment in court while continuing to speak out on national issues.
