Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has announced that his upcoming political party will have a Gen Z as its deputy leader.
Speaking during a media roundtable with Kamba-speaking radio stations on Wednesday, Gachagua emphasized the importance of youth involvement in leadership. He stated that his experience, combined with the creativity and knowledge of Gen Z, would create a strong leadership team.
“My deputy party leader will be a Gen Z. We must involve them and not just call them future leaders—they are leaders today,” he said.
Gachagua also claimed that young people trust him because he stood by them during the anti-government protests. He maintained that he faced significant consequences for supporting their cause but remained committed to mentoring and empowering them.
The former DP continues to engage with opposition leaders, including Kalonzo Musyoka, Martha Karua, and Eugene Wamalwa, as he builds his political alliances.
