Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has an opportunity to challenge his critics in the political rivalry with Interior CS Kithure Kindiki, according to analysts.
However, he faces significant challenges in reversing the tide and thwarting efforts to oust him from his influential position.
The political landscape is clearly defined, with 69 out of 87 MPs from Mt Kenya backing Kindiki as their representative in President William Ruto’s administration.
Last Wednesday, 300 MCAs supported Kindiki at a meeting in Murang’a, while Gachagua’s supporters staged a walkout with only 50 attendees.
Additionally, over 2,000 elders from the prominent Njuri Ncheke council in Meru, along with councils from Embu, have declared their support for Kindiki, emphasizing his role in coordinating national administration and representing their interests in government.
