Former Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) chairperson Wafula Chebukati has died, his family has confirmed.
Chebukati passed away on Thursday at 11 p.m. while undergoing treatment at a Nairobi hospital, where he had been admitted for nearly a week. The nature of his illness remains private.
Chebukati served as IEBC chair for six years, overseeing the 2017 and 2022 General Elections before retiring in January 2023.
