The Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) and M23 rebels have reached a ceasefire agreement after peace talks facilitated by Qatar. Both sides, represented under the Alliance Fleuve Congo (AFC), pledged to end hostilities immediately and reject hate speech or intimidation.
The joint declaration, signed in Goma by AFC spokesperson Lawrence Kanyuka, outlined plans for continued dialogue to address the root causes of the eastern DRC conflict. They called on communities, media, and religious leaders to support peace efforts and expressed gratitude to Qatar for its mediation role.
