Deputy President Kithure Kindiki has lauded President William Ruto for his commitment to uniting the country and accelerating national development.
Speaking in Wajir, Kindiki acknowledged that Kenya’s vision for unity and prosperity had been delayed for years but expressed confidence that this would change under Ruto’s leadership. He highlighted the government’s efforts in infrastructure development, particularly in North Eastern Kenya, where poor roads and inadequate electricity have hindered progress.
Kindiki noted that key roads in the region, including the Isiolo-Mandera Road, are now being tarmacked, and Wajir is being connected to the national power grid. He emphasized that these improvements would spur economic growth and enhance service delivery.
He also hailed Ruto’s decision to remove vetting requirements for National Identity Card applicants in the region, calling it a historic move that ensures equal access to identification documents for Northern Kenya residents. The announcement was made as Ruto signed the Presidential Proclamation on Registration and Issuance of IDs, reinforcing the government’s commitment to inclusivity.
The event was attended by key leaders, including CS Aden Duale and governors from Wajir, Mandera, and Garissa.
