A team of detectives seized marijuana worth Sh14,160,000 in the Ririba area of Migori County.
The confiscation occurred when police from the Piny Oyie station intercepted a suspicious vehicle on Kopanga Mubachi Road, believed to be transporting illegal drugs. Upon spotting the police, the driver attempted to flee, leading to a chase.
The driver lost control of the vehicle, veered off the road, and ended up in a ditch. “The suspect quickly abandoned the vehicle and evaded arrest,” police reported.
A search of the vehicle revealed 472 kg of suspected narcotics valued at Sh14,160,000. Police also found an alternate number plate in the car, which was towed to the station for further investigation.
The recovered drugs are being held as evidence, and efforts to apprehend the suspect are ongoing.
