Energy Cabinet Secretary Opiyo Wandayi has cautioned Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka and his allies against interfering with ODM leader Raila Odinga.
Speaking on Monday in Kodiaga, Gem, during the launch of a Sh12 million Rural Electrification Project benefiting 105 households, Wandayi criticized leaders who align with Odinga before elections but later abandon him.
“Every election season, people praise Raila, calling him a champion for Kenya, only to betray him when elections arrive,” he stated.
Wandayi reaffirmed his commitment to working with President William Ruto and urged Kalonzo and his allies to refrain from meddling in ODM’s affairs.
Kalonzo had previously urged Odinga to return to the opposition and distance himself from President Ruto in preparation for the 2027 elections.
Wandayi also responded to remarks made by former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, rejecting any coalition that aligns with his ideology.
He outlined the current political landscape, stating that only two formations exist: the broad-based coalition he supports or the “Wamunyoro coalition.” He urged leaders to take a clear stance.
Accusing certain politicians of exploiting Odinga’s political struggles for personal gain, Wandayi warned that such behavior would no longer be tolerated.
“These political vultures have thrived on Raila’s sacrifices. Their time is up,” he declared.
He further criticized politicians who secure their positions while leaving Odinga to fight on the streets, vowing that such tendencies would no longer be accepted.
“What we seek is unity of purpose,” Wandayi emphasized.
