A 23-year-old college student, Alvin Kirimi, succumbed to injuries sustained during an altercation in Runda, Thika Town, Kiambu County. Kirimi, a student at Imperial College, was assaulted on December 15 by a suspect known to him.
Good Samaritans rushed him to St. Matia Mulumba Hospital, where he died while undergoing treatment. The body is preserved at the hospital morgue, and police are actively searching for the suspect, who remains at large.
In Mwamosioma village, Kisii County, a 21-year-old man allegedly killed his mother, Rose Nyakerario Gesengi, 45, during a domestic altercation. Police discovered her body with head, neck, and arm injuries, reportedly inflicted with a rungu.
The suspect was arrested, and the murder weapon has been preserved as evidence. The body was moved to Kisii Teaching and Referral Hospital morgue for an autopsy.
In Thika Town, a painter, Erick Okoth, died after falling from the third floor of a building. The incident occurred as he painted a classroom wall on Monday.
Okoth was rushed to Thika Level Five Hospital but was pronounced dead on arrival. Police have launched an investigation into the incident and have involved officials from Kiambu County Government and the National Construction Authority.
Authorities say such construction site accidents are frequent, often due to non-compliance with safety regulations.
