Detectives have recovered a car believed to be used in the abduction and murder of three women, whose bodies were found in separate locations across Nairobi and Machakos. The vehicle was discovered at Ukulima Market in Kamukunji, and police are questioning its owner as part of the investigation.
The victims, abducted before their bodies were found in Parklands, Bahati, and Chumvi, had injuries on their hands, necks, and backs. Police Inspector General Douglas Kanja confirmed the case is under active investigation. He also noted a slight rise in murder cases from August to October compared to previous years, with 339 recorded in 2024.
An alleged fourth victim, who claims she was abducted along with the three but later released after her family paid a Sh1 million ransom, has provided a statement that investigators are reviewing. Police are determining if she was a genuine victim or an accomplice.
Investigators tracked the victims’ phones, which showed movements across various Nairobi areas before being switched off. Evidence suggests the bodies were dumped at different locations following their murders. CCTV footage and transaction details from a petrol station are being examined as part of the probe.
One of the victims, Warris Daud, was married to a man residing in the UK. Following the murders, traders in Eastleigh protested, demanding justice and closing shops to mourn the victims. Autopsies are scheduled, with burials planned at Lang’ata Cemetery.
Authorities have revisited crime scenes in Parklands and Kyumbi to piece together the events leading to the murders as the investigation continues.
