One person was arrested as anti-riot police took control of the streets in Eldoret to prevent protests. A young protester, who was attempting to rally his peers by whistling, was apprehended outside Zion Mall, where groups of youths had begun to gather.
The young demonstrators engaged in a heated discussion with police, insisting on their right to organize and conduct peaceful protests. The leader, who was whistling to mobilize the crowd, was swiftly taken away in a police landrover.
“We are not interested in violence. All we want is to peacefully protest for our rights,” stated one of the youths.
Despite the tensions, the town remained calm, with a significant police presence observed patrolling the streets. Over 15 lorries filled with police officers were seen monitoring various areas of the town.
