President William Ruto’s Cabinet Secretaries collectively hold assets exceeding Sh18 billion, as revealed during vetting sessions for newly appointed officials. Career politicians dominate the wealth rankings, with Agriculture CS Mutahi Kagwe, ICT CS William Kabogo, and Trade CS Lee Kinyanjui having a combined net worth of Sh4 billion. Kabogo leads at Sh3 billion, followed by Kagwe at Sh846 million and Kinyanjui at Sh471 million.
Prime CS Musalia Mudavadi previously declared a net worth of Sh4 billion, while Mining and Maritime Affairs CS Hassan Joho is valued at Sh2.3 billion. Other high-net-worth CSs include Aden Duale (Sh980 million), Julius Ogamba (Sh790 million), Kipchumba Murkomen (Sh620 million), and Wycliffe Oparanya (Sh600 million). Joho’s wealth comes from real estate holdings in Mombasa, Vipingo, Malindi, and Nairobi, while Duale owns land, rental properties, a cattle ranch, and shares in various businesses.
State officers are mandated by the Public Officers Ethics Act to disclose their wealth every two years to prevent illicit enrichment. The Public Service Commission has referred 32 wealth declarations to investigative agencies for scrutiny. The vetting process continues to highlight the vast financial standing of Kenya’s top government officials.
