Bungoma Governor Ken Lusaka has praised the county’s youth for their peaceful protests on Tuesday, highlighting their respectful approach to demonstrating in Bungoma town without engaging in looting or vandalism.
“I commend the youth in Bungoma who joined others nationwide in protests while preserving public and private property,” he stated.
Lusaka urged the youth to continue this peaceful method in future demonstrations. “You can express yourselves, but please do not harm what belongs to others,” he emphasized.
On Tuesday, business activity slowed significantly across the country as anti-government protests unfolded, leading to widespread closures due to concerns over potential violence.
In major cities like Nairobi, Mombasa, and Kisumu, demonstrators blocked roads and lit bonfires, prompting police to use tear gas to disperse crowds. These protests came just five days after President William Ruto announced significant Cabinet changes.
