Eldas MP Adan Keynan, the longest-serving lawmaker, has expressed concerns over the declining quality of parliamentary debate, attributing it to a larger number of MPs and constitutional changes.
Reflecting on his 28-year tenure, Keynan highlighted Parliament’s transformation from an executive-controlled entity to an independent institution. He also acknowledged challenges like increased taxpayer burdens and conflicts between the Senate and National Assembly.
Keynan condemned last year’s Gen Z breach of Parliament, called for civility in leadership, and emphasized strengthening Kenya-Turkey ties. He also voiced confidence in Raila Odinga’s bid for the AUC chairmanship.
