James Musa Awandu, known online as Jem Guru or Jumuiyan, was found dead in his house in Ngong, Kajiado County, after a suspected suicide on March 26. A suicide note was found, and police are investigating its authenticity. Jumuiyan, 31, was reportedly poisoned, and despite being rushed to the hospital, he was declared dead on arrival. His death shocked his family and the online community, where he was recognized for his activism against poor governance. His passing is part of a broader trend, as four other suicide cases were reported on the same day across different parts of Kenya. Authorities are investigating these incidents amid increasing concerns about suicide rates.
