“If you doubt its significance, prepare to be astonished by the actions of a 60-year-old man from Siaya. On July 7, a tragic and shocking incident unfolded in Siaya County. According to police reports, moments after allegedly murdering his wife over just Sh30, Bernard Odweso was killed by enraged residents.
The unfortunate incident occurred at their home, where Bernard fatally stabbed his 55-year-old wife, Pamela Anyango, following a dispute over the money. According to Siaya County Police Commander Cleti Kimaiyo, Pamela accused Bernard of stealing the Sh30 intended for a church offering, triggering a fatal altercation.
Bernard’s rampage didn’t stop there. He also attacked his 24-year-old son, Dickens Odweso, who intervened to protect his mother. Bernard stabbed Dickens in the neck and leg, though Dickens survived the brutal assault.
The community’s response to these horrific events was swift and furious. Angry residents swiftly gathered and confronted Bernard, delivering a severe beating before he was rushed to Siaya County Referral Hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
This senseless violence has left the Odweso family shattered and the community grappling with the tragic aftermath of an incident sparked by such a paltry sum.
