Once plagued by insecurity, Baringo County is now set to host the 2025 World Wildlife Day on March 3 at Lake Bogoria. The event highlights the region’s improved security and potential as a tourist destination.
Kenya Wildlife Service announced the celebrations, while Baringo County Conservancies Association CEO Susan Jepkemoi welcomed the opportunity to shift focus from insecurity to the county’s natural beauty.
Home to Lake Bogoria, a UNESCO Ramsar site, Baringo boasts diverse ecosystems supporting flamingos, Rothschild’s giraffes, elephants, and rare species like the giant pangolin. The event will also see the launch of community conservancy projects supported by the Ministry of Tourism.
