Prominent Nairobi lawyer Dr. Wilfred Mutubwa passed away on Tuesday, November 26, after collapsing in his office. He had complained of pain before collapsing during a brief break from a virtual court session at his office near Nairobi Hospital. The cause of his death remains unknown.
Dr. Mutubwa served as the Dean of the Mount Kenya University School of Law and was a strong advocate for Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR). He had previously chaired the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators – Kenya and was a member of the Permanent Court of Arbitration in The Hague. At the time of his death, he was involved in resolving an ongoing dispute at Nairobi Hospital.
The legal fraternity mourned his passing, with Law Society of Kenya President Faith Odhiambo highlighting his distinguished career as a lawyer, academician, and ADR champion. She praised his efforts in enhancing arbitration in Kenya and his commitment to mentoring the next generation of legal professionals. Dr. Mutubwa’s body has been taken to the mortuary for an autopsy.
