A 42-year-old murder suspect, John Mugendi, was found dead in an apparent suicide at Kiamaciri Police Station, Kirinyaga County. His body was discovered hanging from door ventilation grills with a vest tied around his neck. Authorities reported no signs of foul play, but investigations are underway, with the Independent Policing Oversight Authority (IPOA) joining the probe.
Meanwhile, in Kirinyaga’s Ndia constituency, the body of an unidentified man was recovered from the Rwamuthambi River. Police suspect the man was killed elsewhere and his body dumped at the river. The remains have been moved to the mortuary for identification and autopsy.
In Kitui County, 46-year-old Patrick Mutua Wambua was found dead in his house, submerged in a 250-litre plastic drum filled with water. The body showed a severed neck but no other injuries. A blood-stained panga discovered at the scene is being held as evidence.
These incidents add to growing concerns over a rise in murder cases in recent months, with police intensifying investigations to address the surge.
