Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has openly criticized President William Ruto for inconsistencies in addressing recent anti-government protests and the alleged role of the Ford Foundation. During an interview, Gachagua pointed out contradictions in the government’s stance, highlighting that while Ruto previously blamed the Ford Foundation for financing protests, he later met with the same organization. Gachagua linked the protests to the public’s dissatisfaction with the Finance Bill 2024, which triggered demonstrations across 35 counties. He dismissed accusations that he was orchestrating the unrest, suggesting that these claims were part of a plot to impeach him. Gachagua urged law enforcement to maintain professionalism and avoid political interference.
