In Olbutyo, Bomet, detectives are probing a case involving a 25-year-old man who was allegedly caught engaging in an indecent act with a cow.
According to reports, Vincent Munai and approximately 40 other residents of Kapsayalel village discovered the suspect in the act with Munai’s Friesian cow around 3:00 a.m. The community responded by inflicting mob justice on the suspect, resulting in injuries to his head and left leg.
The suspect has been transported to a local medical facility for treatment and is currently in police custody. He is expected to be formally charged in court.
The cow has been examined by a veterinary officer, and investigations are ongoing.
Bestiality, defined as engaging in sexual acts with animals, is a criminal offense under Kenyan law. The Penal Code’s Section 162 (b) prescribes up to 14 years of imprisonment for those convicted of carnal knowledge of an animal. Additionally, Section 163 stipulates a 7-year prison term for attempts to commit such offenses.
