A 48-year-old man has been arrested for allegedly stabbing and killing his 24-year-old son in Mosobecho village, Nandi County.
The young man died from his injuries on the evening of Saturday, August 31, at Kapsabet Referral Hospital. Police reports indicate that the victim was fatally stabbed in the chest during a physical altercation with his father, which led to severe bleeding.
The motive behind the altercation is still unclear. Authorities were notified of the incident and later responded to the hospital where the victim, Kenneth, was pronounced dead. The father has been located and arrested; he is scheduled to appear in court on September 2 to face murder charges. Police plan to request additional time to detain him for further investigation and mental health evaluations.
The victim’s body has been taken to the local mortuary for an autopsy and other procedures. The rise in such violent incidents in the area has sparked calls for resolving disputes peacefully.
In a separate incident in Kasarani, Kano Njoroge died by suicide in an unusual manner. After socializing with friends, he suddenly used a kitchen knife to stab himself in the thigh. He was rushed to St. Francis Hospital but was pronounced dead on arrival due to severe bleeding from a ruptured thigh nerve. The motive behind his actions is still unknown, and his body has been moved to the mortuary for autopsy and further investigation.
