On Friday, a man was arrested in Wajir for allegedly breaking into a telecommunications company and siphoning diesel. The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) reported that the arrest occurred while the man’s accomplices managed to flee.
The officers acted on intelligence regarding the break-in at the Halane area. Upon receiving the information, they promptly responded and caught the suspects in the act of siphoning diesel. However, the accomplices managed to escape into the night, leaving their partner to face the legal consequences.
The operation resulted in the recovery of three full 20-liter jerrycans and one partially full 20-liter jerrycan of diesel, along with 14 empty 20-liter jerrycans and a siphoning pipe.
The suspect is currently detained at Wajir Police Station, where he is being processed pending arraignment, while the search for his accomplices continues.
