On Sunday, President William Ruto emphasized the importance of national unity and collective effort during a visit to Mwatate, Taita Taveta County. Speaking after attending a church service at ACK St. Peters Ngambwa Church, he underscored the need for Kenyans to come together during this pivotal time.
Drawing on the day’s sermon, Ruto highlighted the significance of unity in advancing Kenya’s progress. “As preached today, this is a season for unity and collaboration to move Kenya forward,” he remarked.
The President noted that political activities were to be set aside during the church service, allowing only the county’s Woman Representative Lydiah Haika and Governor Andrew Mwadime brief moments to address the congregation.
Encouraging Taita Taveta residents to continue their tradition of prayer, Ruto urged them and the entire nation to support efforts aimed at national cohesion and development. “Let’s unite and work together to achieve our shared goals for a better country,” he said.
Ruto committed to convening a meeting with elected leaders from Taita Taveta to align on a development strategy for the region. “Today’s visit was for the church service, but I will return to focus on development and collaborative planning,” he added.
Emphasizing respect for religious institutions, the President urged politicians to refrain from making political statements during worship. Ruto is currently on a four-day development tour of the Coast region, having already visited Mombasa, Kwale, and Kilifi Counties.
